North Carolina Amateur Sports (NCAS) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization established in 1983 to host the first sanctioned State Games of North Carolina in 1986 and the U.S. Olympic Festival-’87. Today, it operates with the goal of promoting health and wellness for all ages and skill levels through organizing best-in-class sporting events that enrich the quality of life and enhance economic well-being of North Carolina communities.  NCAS hosts the BODYARMOR State Games of North Carolina, Cycle North Carolina “Mountains to the Coast” Bicycle Tour, Cycle North Carolina Coastal Ride and Cycle North Carolina Mountain Ride. Staffed by three permanent, full-time employees, NCAS has a 13-member Board of Directors.  NCAS’ success is attributed to the hundreds of volunteers who support the State Games and Cycle North Carolina. NCAS receives financial support from corporate sponsors, individual donors and event revenues.

The BODYARMOR State Games are North Carolina’s largest multi-sport festival and one of the largest State Games programs in the United States.  This annual event features over 12,000 athletes and 600 teams competing in 30 different sports.  The BODYARMOR State Games combines athletic excellence with quality competition, while giving YOU a chance to win the Gold!

Started in 2013, the Cycle North Carolina “Mountain Ride” is a 2-day weekend event offering loop rides of varying distance each day from one central campsite.  The Mountain Ride attracts 400 participants annually from 15 states.  The event has been hosted by Lake Lure, Brevard, Bryson City and Tryon.

The Cycle North Carolina “Coastal Ride” began in 2004, as a shorter Spring version of the Mountains to Coast.  The 3-day weekend event offers loop rides of varying distance each day from one central campsite.  The Coastal Ride attracts over 2,000 cyclists annually from nearly 40 states and 3 or 4 countries.  The event rotates to different coastal towns including Edenton, Oriental and Washington.

The Cycle North Carolina “Mountains to Coast” Tour is a fully supported cross-state bicycle tour of North Carolina.  The event began its inaugural trek in 1999 and has attracted participants from all 50 states and 8 countries, stopped overnight in over 100 North Carolina towns, traveled more than 5,000 miles on the scenic back roads of North Carolina and passed through nearly 700 North Carolina communities.
