North Carolina empire builder Ashley Christensen continues her hold on the Raleigh food scene with the opening of her fast-casual eatery BB’s Crispy Chicken, on Saturday, October 30, in the Midtown East.
The menu at BB’s Crispy Chicken consists of fried poultry sandwiches in various degrees of spicy with topping like thick-cut pickles, lettuce, tomato, and Duke’s mayo with sides like waffle fries and crunchy cheese curds. There’s also 13 different sauces; The News & Observer’s Drew Jackson tries all of them and reports on the top five, which includes the Scorpion Red Fire selection.
After BB’s Crispy Chicken opens in Raleigh, addresses are already set to expand to Durham and Cary in 2022. There are plans to open more locations beyond the Triangle in the future.
These will be Christensen’s first restaurants outside of Raleigh, where she made her name with upscale diner Poole’s, Beasley’s Chicken + Honey, Chuck’s Burgers (closed), Death & Taxes, and Fox’s Liquor Bar (temporarily closed).
